Coaches Commiting to a player/family and then De-Committing / cutting

How common is this in the G. I've come across a few parents talking about this at the rinks.. So just curious how often this happens.

Fact. Go cry about it. Take it as a sign that johnny actually doens't belong on the team or at this level.

The problem is the decommit comes down and other teams are full. We will end up on a crap team.

It happens both ways, sometimes players/family commits to a team, then goes to a different team at the last moment.

Entitled much? Maybe you should have joined the right team for junior instead of pushing him to be on a team he clearly isn't on the same level. Loser parents.

Have coached a long time…. Usually goes the other way with parents decommitting. At the AAA level happens more than A or AA (coaches decommitting) a coaches word is totally shot doing that too often in A or AA. They’re better to tell the family their player will have to “make the team” at tryouts. Meaning if nobody better come along.

Parents decommitting happens waaaaay more at the A level as parents think little Jonny really did make a AA team last minute and isn’t just filling out the roster.

Best move is to go to the Board of the organization with this 'decommit' issue.

No respectable coach would hang a kid out to dry by doing this. It does happen but not by any coach worth your time or commitment.
