With that said some parents also need a wakeup call as to the commitment coaching is. You can leave the rink and go for coffee, wander around etc. For games and practices team coaches are usually tied up for 2 1/2 to 3 hours dedicated to your kid.
That gets lost on some.
It’s a paycheque.
No paid coaches on our team.
Still has advantage$.

False allegations can be made against anyone at anytime it has nothing to do with coaching hockey. The answer is parent coaches making sure their kid keeps an advantage at all times especially with extra ice time. Most of these guys are narcissists and just can't stand the thought of their kids having to work as hard as all the other kids.

For what it's worth....I had a coach one year who was a non parent as was the rest of the staff. The coach was an OPP who had worked undercover in the biker gangs for years. Needless to say no one push the envelope and when he spoke players respected the man and the message being delivered. The major thing I learned that year from him was the value of never leaving a teammate alone...ever. I make sure that is a key message to any team I am involved with.

That's crap. You think coaches don't want their kids to work hard? We are talking about youth hockey here. What real advantage does a coach of a youth hockey team have? How about NHL players kids and high school/college coaches kids? Those are the ones who get all the benefits. I see kids who are HORRIBLE but because dad played in the NHL or is a coach at a college the kid gets EVERYTHING. Please just stop with youth hockey coaches getting ANYthing. All they get is a headache from the PARENTS. Many of the parents in our org are disgusting. Entitled, gross and whine the moment they think someone else gets more playing time even if their kid is the slowest one out there.

Pro Sports is one of the only places in the world where nepotism does not exist. Unfortunately this year that was tested with Bronny James playing for the Lakers, however I would challenge you to find other examples. Anyone playing sports is there on merit. Too much at stake.

Maybe it doesn't exist in Pro sports but that's not what I said. It exists all the way up. I see kids playing on D1 teams that should not be there but they are thanks to dad. If you're sitting around complaining about youth hockey coaches why don't you get off your ass and do it? It's a thankless job and no one truly does it to keep their kid on an 'elite' team.

It 100% exists in minor and pro sports. It's also exists in politics and it exists in business and there's a lot at stake as well in those areas..
About 15% of pros are only there cuz they were given privileged opportunities when they were younger and wouldn't be there on talent alone. Those are facts.

We were talking about nepotism not privilege
