I manage a GTHL U12AA team and working on tournaments for next season. First question, has the G or OHF banned Ontario hockey teams from entering tournaments in the USA next year? If no ban, is there a 'code' for minor hockey to stay away from the US Market for any tournaments or exhibition games? Parents and Coaches are becoming very vocal on no USA travel but wanted to see if the G or OHF has a position to help facilitate the decision.

Have not heard anything from the board but if the parents do not want to go to the US then that is your answer.

No ban.

No matter your own thoughts it would obviously be very unpopular with most parents, smart choice would be to stay away.

All due respect here, but i gotta say as a manager first you should know these things. Next, are you not in touch with the sentiment on the team? You want to try to keep everyone as happy as possible, why would you even consider it? lol maybe you should let us know what team this is, just for the curious.

From my understanding, there is no ban on Canadian Teams entering US tournaments.

However, you may want to double check with your association because the insurance on the team, may not cover you travelling outside of Canada so you may need to take out special insurance for the tournament.

Also, the USA Minor Hockey system is set up with different terminology for divisions ie U15 vs 14U so you will need to be extra careful when registering.

Lastly, with the exchange so high, it could be a very expensive weekend.

But do your research before you book anything.
