New to GTHL Questions

Couple of young kids at home getting into hockey and trying to wrap my head around everything GTHL so I can be more informed talking to other parents. Not trying to light a fire here, just like to learn.
- Why are AAA teams not allowed to have their own feeder systems? Honestly just curious why the rule exists
- Fellow parents talking about A being under more scrutiny if they don't have appropriate House/Select as a feeder, apparently you can't get a new "A charter"(?) without it now? Rumour is it's causing some teams to basically grab whoever they can to ensure they don't lose the team - as I assume would be challenging to get it back at a later date? Lots of talk, nothing I see that's actually not just other parent chat. Does anyone have a link for this? Curious on opinions, makes sense to me but lots of parents trying to warn each other that they'll end up on what's essentially a team hold together with gum and toothpicks. True or untrue, both sides of that come with interesting considerations

I don’t know the answer, that is why I’m asking, genius. I don’t want any issues when I sign up my child and people don’t use their proper pronouns of they, them.

Google is your friend in many of these cases - takes you right to an article on the GTHL website. It's pretty advanced that way

The gthl says yes they are but I’m sure as you know hockey players are not known to be the nicest and most accepting, not saying that that’s right but you should prepare your kid for some criticism even though they shouldn’t have to deal with any

I can’t picture any players or coaches remembering proper pronouns but shouldn’t be a big deal will most likely just address them by name. Don’t let this discourage you from joining your child up. Hockey is for everyone, all races, religions, no matter how you identify or if your child is transgender. All the best. Have fun.

Yes. Coaches and trainers have taken a training course about inclusion. If the staff are informed, it should not be a big deal. Haven't had anyone ask for a different pronoun yet, but it would not bother me if it happened.

And they all take them seriously, aha.

Anyway, if you'll ask a coach to use a specific pronoun and they will be a dick about it - good, most probably that person is a dick anyway, so you just saved your kid and yourself from a terrible season. Just be sure to do ask before signing a card

As mentioned, all coaches and players go through training on this, and it's pretty well done. How seriously people take it? Not that seriously in my experience, but if a coach knows he will have a player that this pertains to, I would expect them to take it with more attention, and ensure their team does so as well.

That said, it also doesn't mean the coach won't occasionally throw out a "lets get em, boys" type comment out of habit (I was guilty of this one year when I had a girl on the team). If you accept that these are not malicious and just mistakes, and move on, you'll be fine. If you make a federal case out of every time a kid on the bench says "we gotta pass more, guys", you're in for a lot of conflict.

Ultimately, I would expect the vast vast majority of every player and coach and official to do their best to be respectful. There will be some who are not. If you encounter one, escalate it to the coach or referee. There's no tolerance for this anymore.
