Parents of kids on "top" teams
Re: Parents of kids on "top" teams
Yo, any parents got tips on turning their kid into a beast on the ice? My son’s a bit fragile right now, scared of corners, doesn’t want to mix it up. I wanna build him into a stronger, more physical player. How many reps a day? How much lifting? Trying to put on some serious muscle and get him dominating out there. Any advice?

Toughness is an attitude. It's not about size or how much you liftGuest wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 7:50 pm Yo, any parents got tips on turning their kid into a beast on the ice? If his personality is meek and weak he can train all day and it won’t help.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 7:50 pm Yo, any parents got tips on turning their kid into a beast on the ice? Perhaps you should take a look at the new CTE study that came out yesterday as well. I am all for kids playing sports. What exactly is delusion about having a healthy balance in life? wow.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:27 am OP is so delusional. This post reeks of have-nots.
If I have the money why can’t I do what I want? Kids are having a blast. How do you know what my kids want?
And you think this is only hockey? Buddy, get out of the rink and open your eyes. This stuff happens to every sport/hobby/whatever.
Who do you think you are to tell other people what is good for their kids and what to do with their money? If you don’t want your kid playing that much, don’t… never mind other people and their kids… if your little Johnny can’t keep up, it’s because he isn’t training as much…
Or if he can’t keep up maybe he’s just an average player, nothing bad about that but face reality, all the training doesn’t matter, you can’t make a kid train all day and expect he’s going to make AAA, he’s just average, it’s genetics
Re: Parents of kids on "top" teams
If your kid is on a top teams (at any level) and is the top player, be prepared for a lot of jealousy from other parents. There will be a lot of sh*t talking behind your back, so my suggestion is to avoid too many interactions with the parent group. Go watch away from other parents. The more you’re around the jealousy the higher the chance you’ll hear things that will be upsetting.
I have befriended some parents over the years, but mostly prefer to steer clear of other parents. Yes we are on the same team, but make no mistake, these other parents are in serious competition with you. There will be some genuine people you meet who are good, but the majority are backstabbing a$$holes.
Just my 2 cents.

In all reality people that consider their kids “top players” usually have kids that are average players. These parents have stars in their eyes, thinking our kids going to the NHL. No one‘s jealous of your average kid.

I have seen the jealousy and it ain't about average kids.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 8:09 amGuest wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 7:13 am If your kid is on a top teams (at any level) and is the top player, be prepared for a lot of jealousy from other parents. Only 345 Canadians in NHL this year. And that # will drop even more.

So if Canadians aren’t being drafted where are they being drafted from? Don’t say India!!Guest wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 12:02 pm Only 345 Canadians in NHL this year. And that # will drop even more.
