If MM parents are here, are you happy with your coach who's not giving kids equal playing time even at mid-summer team building tournaments?
What team are they?

it’s actually extremely concerning how many tournaments these kids are playing in. I know it’s optional I saw the email but going into minor atom any kid on that team feels obligated to play. And they are. For some this is their 7th tournament and they have 4-5 more. Poor families.
Just a bit extra cash for the coach, nothing personal. Why would he care about his kids health?! He doesn't have relevant education and probably not very interested in healthy lifestyle.
If they continue like that, by age of 12 couple of these kids will have problems with knees, by 40 half of the team will say farewell to their backs. But the coach will be far from them by that time.

What stupid nonsense are you spewing. This is their third and last tournament as a team. and half the kids aren’t here because they are off enjoying the summer. No idea what all the other kids are doing but the Bulldogs kids, and PH kids and TE kids are all playing as much or more.
Check how many tournaments the 2015 hyper fit have played. 3 is a gross understatement. It’s a STOREY ……………………

Just a bit extra cash for the coach, nothing personal. Why would he care about his kids health?! He doesn't have relevant education and probably not very interested in healthy lifestyle.

Moreover I am sure that not only MM coach, but two thirds of AAA coaches and a vast majority of instagram kids' parents have no clue that hockey is a one sided sport that stimulates unequal development of torso muscles and arms. Muscles and bones in feet are under risk too because feet are unnaturally fixated in skates. Normally kids grow faster in summer when they rest and do something totally different. But if you keep him on ice as much as you can through summer and help your coach earn some cash, don't be surprised that by the end of high school instead of future NHL player you'll get a midget with a swath of chronic bone and muscle problems.

Take a look at u8-11 instagram kids that look stronger now coz parents keep them on ice all year round or choose some hockey-related activities (lacrosse and baseball won't help much) in summer to accelerate their development. Almost all of them are smaller than they should be by this age, few of them will do 100 push-ups or at least 500 jumps on a jumping rope, something normal healthy kids are expected to do by this age.
Elite athletes of all kinds of sport take a break often as long as 1 months, children need even more.
But how these coaches will earn cash if instead of useless tournaments and paid summer practices kids will go swimming, cycling, circuit training in the park or practice martial art?! That's why greedy coaches and retarded parents push the kids into this s_t

just because you've decided to creep on 9 year olds Instagram and think you know their entire life is an other issue. my child plays in a lot of tournaments because he's invited. we have fun, between games we do things as a family (picnics, cards, pitch/ kick a ball around etc..) outside of the weekend tournaments he only does Carnevale. he also is followed by a pediatric sports doctor and is in physio. what matters at this age is that they are having fun. the amazing memories we are creating with our family and with friendships we wouldn't change.
every child is different and as a parent mine thrive with this active lifestyle.

That you have a pediatric sports doc for your grade 3 kid is nuts.

I love these dads that try to play it off that their kid loves it and they only do it for fun. Your families weekends in the spring and summer (offseason) is spent in hockey tournaments. But you’re raising a well rounded kid that gets to play cards and have the occasional picnic in between games. He has a “sports doctor” at the age of 9/10. At that age what your kid wants to do is defined by you. If you don’t let him experience other things he won’t know what he wants another than hockey year round. Good luck. Enjoy his “love” for it while it lasts…..

I agree that year round hockey is a mistake, but the rest of this is idiotic. Stunted growth from wearing skates?? Is the kid sleeping in them?? I'd like to know what stunted your mental growth.
