This has always been known and now there is proof out there time for a law firm to make it right once and for all
Time for a class action lawsuit against the so called not for profit gthl
Re: Time for a class action lawsuit against the so called not for profit gthl
How about the reasoning behind gthl associations charging 2,3 even 4 x’s more for team practice ice
Gthl team budgets are always more than double for practice ice compared to Omha team practice ice. And the omha teams get more time per week at half the cost
This gthl league is for profit team budgets prove this as well
They want to pay their coaches fine lose tge not for profit bs title on their corporate tax filings

The challenge here is if you don’t participate and break every tampering rule the G claims to have and enforce, your kid is left on the outside.
As soon as Christmas is done, coaches start tampering, parents start shopping kids to other teams, skating at other teams practices starts.
Everyone knows this happens and no one does anything.
The G is now it’s own micro economy with everyone and their mother holding their hand out for payments.
Coaches holding ‘fun skates’, ‘birthday skates’ or whwatever else you call it is just funding the coaches. $75 for 1 AAA skate and there’s 40 kids on the ice and 8910 goalies… alarm bells. At 40 kids paying $75 the coaches are taking in $3000 for one skate. $400 is cost for ice roughly.
The other $3600 isn’t going to the team for tournaments or bags / tshirts and hats. IT’S ONLY PADDING COACHES POCKETS.
And if you participate you’re guilty of it’s continuation Of you don’t, your kid will never play.
If every parent who’s been scammed by this called the G with the next skates details and busted the coaches it would end. But so would your kids chance of ever playing AAA which so many parents covet for their undertalented little farts.
You’re all being duped. The GTHL is the most systematically corrupt economy in Canada. If they were politicians our gas would be $8.90/litre. Your groceries bill weekly would be $1800 and you wouldn’t stand for it.
So why tolerate it now? Are you that desperate? If the coach you’re paying hundreds of pre-team skate dollars to doesn’t come see your kid play? They’re taking you for a ride.
Stop getting sucked in.
Your kid isn’t benefiting and neither is your pocket book. Basically every coach in AAA knows you’ll buy your kids way onto the team no matter the price. It’s basically only worth it if you land them on a top 3 team.
Paying 7000-10000-15000 to play for the last place AAA is so stupid and the coaches just laugh at you.

The whole system turns a blind eye to everything you mentioned above. It has been happening for years. Everyone knows that.

The league is sitting on more money than some nation’s GDP.

I'm not a lawyer but I'm going to assume it will be very tough to prove that they are for profit. I'm sure their tax filings are scrutinized but unless you have some written documentation, and not some verbal he said she said argument, you are going to have a pretty tough case.
How you combat the GTHL is by boycotting the teams that charge the most and that you know are ripping people off. This may mean even looking at OMHA or Alliance Centres.
The best way to combat this is to hit them where it hurts the most, in the pocket book. You now have unlimited options. You as a parent are the one putting up the hard earned cash for you child to play, you have a right to spend that money where you want.
As long as top talent is willing to pay the money, nothing is going to change.
