Amen. It's mostly the parents from the West chirping away here. NT is solid.

They are very skilled but very small.

You can ask MNS what FT does to teams like that.

Some parents just cant help themselves in reaching for that third A though
lol, or they want a challenge and an opportunity to improve?
Who in your expert opinion is actually worthy of AAA and not 'mid'?
The over 3 GAA for HVS goalie 3rd worst in the league wasn't a challenge enough? Okay chief.
Outsider view here: I've spoken to many goalie parents and apparently they want to be on mid to bad teams.
ofc, you're better off facing more shots.

But letting that many in and getting beaten by bottom AA teams isn't a path to AAA for more "challenge". Kids bout to get lit up!
Family moved up north, you can sleep better at night now. Haha. I doubt his parents are chasing any teams.

Big difference between bottom and mid teams. Agree a good spot for goalies is a mid-team. Lots of shots, but still competitive, know that if you have a great game you have a chance to beat a lot of teams. On a bad team seeing breakaways and 3 on 1s all day isn't real hockey and you just learn that saving 35 of 40 shots is a good game even though you lost 5-0.

I'd love to fire 1k on NT to win the series against someone that likes FT and my kids from the west FYI.

Do any teams actually follow this in the playoffs? Or am I being naive?

10.7 – U10 and U11 Teams

(a) Players on U10 and U11 Teams must be provided with Fair and Equal Ice Time in all games, including regular season, playoff, tournament, and exhibition games. “Fair and Equal Ice Time” means ensuring that all players get the same opportunity to contribute to the outcome of all games, regardless of skill or ability. A coach’s responsibility is to develop all players to contribute. Shortening of the bench is not permitted. All players should receive fair and as close to equal as possible ice time, including equal opportunities on special teams.

Organizations are responsible to monitor compliance with this Regulation 10.7(a) by their Team Officials. In turn, Team Officials should be aware that the League will take action where it is determined that there have been violations of this Regulation.

(b) It is recommended that all skaters rotate through all positions to ensure each player has the opportunity to try out each position (forward – LW/C/RW and defence ‐LD/RD) at least once.

(c) It is recommended that all players get a chance to start the game and play end‐of‐game situations.

(d) Where a Team has two registered goaltenders, it is recommended that:

(i) the goaltenders play alternate games or split games to as close to 50/50 as possible;
(ii) the rotation schedule be done in consultation with the goaltender and parents (share games or alternate playing full games); and
(iii) each goaltender plays the final game in an equal number of tournaments;
(iv) the goaltender not participating in a game be permitted to participate as a player.
So your team has made it all the way thru to the middle of April and your complaining about ice time?

Sounds like the coach is making the right calls.
Yeah, really. Your kid will love the championship trophy, don’t ruin it for them by complaining about their ice time at this point in the season. Explain to them the importance of the role they are playing on the team and then find a new team for next year.
And how do you account for the loss of a crucial development year?

It isn’t just about skills, it’s giving all the players a chance to develop their in-game positioning, decision making and performing in a stressful environment. When the message you are sending is that a couple of kids play 25 minutes and others get 6, you are not only imposing an opportunity cost (and financial for the families) but you are telling your weaker players that they can’t possibly contribute anything of value. And they almost certainly always can, everyone has a niche to fill.

To have power play units and penalty kill units at U10 is to try to win at any cost. Nobody is a soothsayer. You cant predict how kids develop and who may bloom at what level or age. Taking away their shot to prove themselves isn’t right. That’s not just me talking. It’s all the rep leagues including the GTHL. If you disagree then you are on the wrong side of those who know better.
