If the coach kid is on the team and he is not the top kid than he is not a good coach given all the extra time they have on ice and extra training.

In some cases, coach is only there for the development of their own kid. They don't care about anything else but their own. After controlling the board coaching decision with their buddies for years, the development of the group now shows how far behind they are vs peers. Said super star MVP in this case is the worse kid on the team, has been for years but has EVERY opportunity and ole non aware daddy will strike down those that would oppose him. Ole coach just wanted to TRY and develop his own kid at everyone else's expense. When ya don't put the work in, don't have the skill, ya can't hold on forever. The levee finally broke. Well new blood now, and little johnny MVP can't make the team, not for spite, HE SUCKS! Adios little Johnny, take daddy coach with ya!

Pretty self explanatory don't ya think? Shitty coach, controlled the team, biased towards his own player who can't make it on his own.

If your kid is on the ice with the team, he too should be developing. If he is not developing, no coach in the world will ever help him.

Some kids develop, some do not, some peak and there's no hope, some faster than others, some have more and better opportunities. If the coaches kid doesn't develop and is only there because of super dad coach, then dad needs recognize and step aside. Other kids develop in or outside the team, this player does not. Son is not there so therefore neither should the coach, because super coach isn't cutting his own kid. At U15 it's a sad reality that many of the kids don't know a PK or PP, no idea where to go positionally, zero angling ability, no idea how to hit or get hit, have been conditioned that you don't ask questions, you don't talk to your coach or face being yelled at. The good news is, many of the stronger players have left and are coming back now that a new coach is in place. But they are way behind other teams in their league, that will show through the season. Some guys want the job, don't do the work, are there for the wrong reasons and lack SELF awareness of just how sh**y their kid is. So this guy can now take his precious players kids game MVP's and hit the road. Sad it took 5 years of BS for people in this association to wake up.

Facts are the facts. Coach a team for 5 years and drag your kid along, manage the parents with fear, align your buddies on the board. When it all falls apart because you can't coach, your board buddies are sick of your bs and can't defend it any longer, plus your kid can't make the team without you, personal gripe? Sure, call it what you want. Good fkn riddance to the idiot. He did no one favors in 5 years.
