It's pretty obvious with some kids now that I've watched over the 2 months that they're playing too much hockey. These are kids especially on the top 3 teams that I know don't play other sports. It's too much hockey and those parents are simply lost. Sadly will continue to regress into U16.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 1:12 pmThe AAA tryout window has been closed for 33 days, and you've already done three spring tournaments? Congratulations, you're an idiot, satisfying your own F.O.M.O at the expense of your son's long term health and development. No meaningful rest after a long season is not making him better, nor is U15 spring hockey getting him one inch closer to being drafted in U16. If he's already good enough to be one of the 300 kids drafted after U16, see previous comment regarding your own F.O.M.O.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 10:05 amWe've already done three spring tournaments, including Nashville, and this one is by far the best value. 2011 AAA

Re: 2011 AAA
I believe that at the U15 level, it's time to start specializing, but you should do it smartly.
I don't put my kid into many spring/summer tournaments. Maybe 2 max and just for fun. Right now my son is more interested in playing rounds of golf and working out. Too much hockey can be counterproductive.
High school also presents a new challenge.

Re: 2011 AAA
It’s only May! My kid will be playing his last of 5 tournaments this weekend. He had an early playoff exit and he wanted to get some more games in. Now he will have June and July to play golf, workout and be a kid. Back on the ice in August.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 10:36 pmIt's pretty obvious with some kids now that I've watched over the 2 months that they're playing too much hockey. Worry about your own kid.
Re: 2011 AAA
the ones who comment about too much hockey in spring are the ones who don't get asked to play. dont worry, your time will come when everything will miraculously seem to click in U16 and todays benders will become highly ranked prospects. happens every year lmaoGuest wrote: ↑Fri May 30, 2025 7:45 amIt’s only May! So playing preseason to ohf plus some spring is too much? Ok.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 10:36 pmIt's pretty obvious with some kids now that I've watched over the 2 months that they're playing too much hockey. Sounds like the solution is to go to a non playoff team and no spring to reduce the load.
