Of course its possible for an MD player to make a AAA team. They just need to be good. There is no magic sauce in KSL, its just full ice hockey and lots of competitive games (for the most part) if your kid gets the development and has played some full ice hockey, then they will probably have a chance like anyone else.

the issue is most of the kids who were good, left MD and went to KSL. So, that in itself just makes it more likely that kids from KSL teams make AAA, but also the competition in MD is watered down and is mostly bad.
It seems really hard. Almost all the spots are going to KSL players. Have to stand out at skates (which isnt easy with 30 kids on the ice) for a non-KSL kid to get any notice. All the coaches are from KSL and they don't really know the non ksl kids. There are lots of non-KSL kids that could easily be a good players on teams if coaches gave them a chance and really watched them. Lots of KSL kids getting spots arent that great... but they play for some top KSL team so its easy

Off top of head, I can only think of 2 forwards and that big D kid that are getting lots of attention from top teams not coming from KSL - but I think they play on teams that sometimes play KSL teams or play in tournaments Not too sure.

Of course I am not talking about VK and Nats who play NYHL and are basically taking most the team. I guess that's one way to not play KSL and make a good team

There is more than that. Lots of good non KSL players. Teams that find the hidden gems are going to be a step ahead. And those kids likely have more room to develop fast before puck drops next year.

No rush to play AAA. If your kid is ready now you will know. Let your kid develop and get a regular shift for a year or 2 and reassess. Look at the 2015 TRW situation. Not fun.

Not sure that after this year Duffield and Vaughan will be any good. Most kids in the 2017 will jump ship. There are some good kids in MD outside of NYHL but they are few. There is a really strong kid on North Toronto and could easily be a top line player on many teams but not sure that anyone has approached the family. KSL kids even at tier 2 are far ahead of MD due to full ice and more development compared to MD that when skates do happen the MD kids have looked lost and so coaches don’t notice the talent of there even was.

The good MD teams are only playing full ice have been all year and end of last year. Tons of tournaments and exhibition games at Full ice. The full ice thing is fake.

Where are the two forwards and big D from? You mean they are in U9MD or from KSL?

The 2 forwards and big D kid are probably from KSL league, just lower tier teams and not the top TEAMS. Again lots of kids on higher KSL teams that arn't really good players than you have some really good players on lower KSL teams. Top teams are looking at that lower talent but again hockey is more about who has the $$ to play and less about the top talent on your team it seems. Looks at the kids picked for the KSL All Star team in the tournament next weekend. You can't tell me they took the top talent, it looks more like they took the coaches kids.
