Is your kid currently playing tier 1 or tier 2. If tier 2 I think you will have a tougher time making a AAA team. There are a few good players on tier 2 but many tier 1 kids are also not getting AAA spots just to put things in perspective.

lol What?

I don't believe that, unless its a unique situation.

Between all the GTHL teams (~12) and OMHA team (~20) and Alliance team (~11)...there are A TON of AAA spots for kids to move into.

If your kid is playing T1 KSL (~15 teams - including T2 teams that played their way into T1) and they can't make a AAA team, your kid did not develop at all this year and that's on them.

Just to add:

Almost every single T1 team in the KSL doesn't even have a full roster.
So the math is more like: 645 AAA Spots at U10 (Assuming 15 Skaters per roster) for 180 kids in KSL T1 (Assuming 12 skaters per roster)

Also, the weighting of Toronto Based Teams vs Non-Toronto Based teams is pretty even, and the numbers work out good there, especially if you throw away the Alliance league for U10AAA.

KSL T1:

Toronto Based: 6 (40%)
E GTA: 4 (26%)
W GTA: 3 (20%)
N GTA: 2 (13%)

AAA Teams (Just OMHA and GTHL):

Toronto Based: 13 Teams (40%)
E GTA: 7 (22%)
W GTA: 9 (28%)
N GTA: 3 (10%)

If you don't make a AAA team in U10, and you play T1 this year, you didn't develop at the expectations you should have.

Wow a lot of time on your hands to do all this math. But I do t agree with the above poster saying tier is only determining factor. It’s actually if your kid developed or not. But tier 2 competition is weak unless in top tier 2 division. If your kid is tier 2 he will be at a slight disadvantage because the skill level in general is lower. If your kid has not developed it could be your coach or could be your kid not really motivated. Which tier did your kid play? How has he performed? There are a lot kids just unable to perform in games.

Bud, the whole post took me 5minutes. If that math would take a long time, you might be special needs.

There are enough AAA teams within the GTA whether G or OMHA to make it on one. DMF and Sens both have their rosters built around Tier 2 and MD kids. Keep attending skates and you will get a spot because some kids may not have committed yet and will leave last minute.

Also don’t get too caught up in whether the kids are Tier 1 or 2. Look at what their development plan is. Ask about the coach, if he’s coaching now go check a practice to see if they know what they are doing. That will tell you a lot.

I heard the TT are locked down but when i watched them they sure could use another strong forward... Same with the Nats although supposedly they may have one dropping down from AAA 2015.

TT not locked down. Some players are leaving but will not make it known until close to end of season.

Seems two year up players from AAA 2015 joining Nats
