Hold up: Edmonton is different because the ice is smaller and everyone shortens their bench? I don’t get it. If most of these teams have played each other already, what’s the trip to Edmonton for? It seems like you’ve done the important part already (play against the best), so what’s so great about this experience?
Lugging hockey equipment across the country: $350
Eating team meals with insufferable parents: $1000+
Flights for the family: $3000+
Hotel for a week: $1500+
Team fees: $5000+
Playing against the same teams from the last 2 months on smaller ice in the arm pit of Canada: priceless!
I guess I’m just jealous my ankle biter couldn’t crack the line up while these grocery sticks paid thousands to watch their big-ice-dependent teammates play hockey at a mall in Deadmonton.
Have fun!
The Brick tourney is mentioned during a Hockey Night in Canada intermission broadcast almost every single year including other major sports news station too, its that infamous.
You are just the A-typical jealous parent through and through. Let.It.Go.
Too funny this video is shared because any of the last names the announcer says aside from Hill I have no idea who they are. You're more making the counter argument to the Brick by sharing this.

Having been there with the 2012’s last year I can tell you it really is a very different game in Edmonton than it is in the spring tournaments, it’s not even close.
You sound bitter and jealous. Going by your logic why do any astronauts bother to actually travel to outer space when they can pay $40 to feel what zero gravity is like at one of those iFly places here on earth, right?
We had a great time last year and it’s an amazing experience. Wishing everyone who goes this year the best.

Florida panthers lost the majority of their regular season games to Boston and Toronto. I guess they should’ve canceled the playoffs this year.
The fact you’re comparing the Brick to NHL playoffs tells me everything I need to know.

What makes it different? Is it better than outer space?

I’ve never been to outer space so I can’t make the comparison but watching these kids play in a jammed pack WEM with and against the top 10 year old kids from around North America is pretty special. Unfortunately only those who get to go will truly appreciate the significance and prestige of this once in a lifetime tournament.
The Brick tourney is mentioned during a Hockey Night in Canada intermission broadcast almost every single year including other major sports news station too, its that infamous
in·fa·mous-well known for some bad quality or deed.
