Re: Klevr
Thank you for the honest advice. For the other parents how has development been for the 2016 Tier 1 teams? Do you feel it was a good move to switch over to KSL.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 4:19 pmReasonable to expect a core group of kids that will stay with the team/coach, but each team is looking to be as competitive as possible, plus some players will decide to leave for a variety of reasons (return to home centre, team not a good fit which covers a myriad of reasons). So in short, there will definitely be a few spots open on each of those teams. Just be sure to confirm who the coaches will be next season, and be sure they’ll be a good fit for your kid. Maybe even come out to watch a few games in the last two tournaments to see how coaches interact with their players, and talk to parents on those teams if you can.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:24 pm Looking to try out in KSL for 2016. Team in Toronto or Aurora area. Does anyone know if these teams are likely to keep the core group together on T1 Aces, Raiders or North Saints? Wondering how real tryouts will be at this age group for these teams. If anyone can share insights would be great.
Good luck to you and your kid.
Re: Klevr
No, not the Junior Wings that are currently in the KSL. They are for arguments sake The Whitby Junior Wings….
Rumour is the Clarington Red Wings are joining the KSL under the YK’s and will be there tier 2 teams.
Re: Klevr
Understood. However the Junior Wings (already in KSL) was / is the T2 team for the Young Kings.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 6:21 pmNo, not the Junior Wings that are currently in the KSL. They are for arguments sake The Whitby Junior Wings….

However, it seems like they have separated themselves and are on their own now. Probably with aspersions to be their own T1 team.
So with that being said. The young kings aren't going to "taint" their brand by having a T2 team with the same uniform and name. So, although I've never heard anyone else say it before. I wouldn't be surprised if the Clarington Red Wings became their official T2 Team.
Re: Klevr
Raiders 18s played in the Toronto tournament before last. Kings and Raiders are in bed together, every other org is 2nd tier to KSLGuest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 2:04 pmI would assume this is a consideration for team owners. No idea what things look like at the Owner / League Commissioner level. If I were to guess, its a straight dictatorship. You have to "apply" to be a member of KSL every year. Make too much noise, you don't get allowed back into the club next year. If you don't think teams are "price fixing" right now - you are naïve.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 8:36 am You are all only looking at the "first round" of try outs.
Also, my post is about the potential of years in the future. The more and more the YK and other orgs become the premier organization, the more they will dominate.
If I live anywhere from the 404 (Newmarket / Aurora) or all the way east to Belleville - and pretty much anything north of those areas (Uxbridge / Port perry / etc etc) And my kid is REALLY good. I am playing for the Young Kings.
Same area, do you think the Durham Mustangs get that same pull?
On the flip side - think of the population around the NS. They are Aurora / Newmarket right? So within 45 minutes they have: Markham/Richmond Hill / North Toronto / Stouffville / Uxbridge / Keswick / Orillia / Orangeville... I'd be surprised if they pull anywhere close to the players the Young Kings get - even though they have WAY more population dense areas to pull from.
So, all I am saying, is the more and more success the top teams have - the more and more they will pull in the BEST players as well as the MOST players to their tryouts. This will create a huge disparity between owners of teams. In two or three years - this WILL be the biggest complaint and probably rip the league apart.
The best teams, in the best areas will continue to prosper. There is absolutely a two tier owner situation going on.
Look at the last tournament, Young Kings had 2018s already playing in a tournament together. You don't think that the Raiders would be pissed that their 2018 are already behind? You don't think that things like that continue to ensure that YK's remain the most dominant and the most profitable?
I am actually surprised Raiders and YK are willing to have T2 teams next year under their "brands" name. I am calling it now - they have a different uniform and they are some how identified as T2.
OR
they are so good, they actually play T1 once the season starts.
