Some parents upset because they have no commit. Some players do but TM looking to have improved roster and waiting on others not on TR Black to commit. No team is on a take their existing full roster to AAA so why are people so surprised.

It’s actually ridiculous that parents have an assumption that if some teams have a feeder to AAA or a group of players are linked to a AAA team that their kid should also be selected.

If your kid lacks compete and IQ, go to AA and let the kid develop. Ice time is everything. Watching from the bench, either due to not being one of the best or politics, is a waste of time. Push for AAA only when the kid has everything necessary to succeed - U13 should be the goal. U10-U12 are not as important. When contact starts, everything changes anyway. Skating is the one skill that should always be a focus.

Makes total sense. Playing limited minutes or losing confidence due to playing at a higher level will do no good. Parents' overinvolvement is part of the reason kids are not developing properly. It's the parents who want the AAA status at U10 and U11, not the kids (they don't care as long as they are playing and having fun!). It's so much better to play at a level where your kid can get a lot of ice time and develop. U10 AAA means nothing. U11 AAA means nothing. It only starts to matter at the older age groups. Playing time should be the focus for these younger kids. That's why U10 and U11 "AAA" kids disappear in U13 and up. The kids who had tons of ice but played AA take those spots because they actually had a chance to play meaningful minutes.

Hockey rankings and tournament wins would say otherwise. OMHA has decent teams but simply can't compete with top 3 GTHL teams. A good OMHA team typically competes with a 5-6th place GTHL team. So your comment that OMHA is just as good is not correct if you're talking player depth. Maybe APR or or NS may be good with open borders and how well they can recruit. Everyone else will be garbage with MW leading the way.
Also, if whitby is full. APR will be the next best place for kids who want to play AAA hockey in the Durham area. So they will absolutely get a lot of skilled kids interested.
