I was at OMHA awards night on the weekend and everyone admitted U9 is going full ice in September just not decided if just rep or HL/LL as well. Announcement is only delayed while they finish discussions about bringing back playoffs and other structures as well.

Sorry but I don't see this happening this year.

Half Ice Tournaments are already set up.
Ice contracts are being negotiated right now.
Some U8 and U9 teams share ice.
Registration has already opened up with costs based on half ice til Jan 15th.

Sorry but it's too late to make any changes.

You can allow full ice without forcing it. At the team/league options.

sorry but you can't switch when all the planning has gone in to ice schedules and tournaments

not everyone will be able to pivot on a dime plus it's not fair if you are committed to a program that can flip to full ice until mid January

It has to be half ice for all or full ice for all, it can't be up to the associations to choose

I'm sure there was talk amongst people about 1/2 ice vs full ice, but if there was something definite that came from an OMHA official, I would think it would have been bigger news than on some random message board.

The real question is why do they invite finalist kids from the essay contest but not the coaches of the month (Adults). The one kid looked SOOOO bored.

Ice isn't as complicated for some leagues, most MD loops are two half ice teams until Jan then become 1 full ice team. The Tri county league swapped to full ice last season pretty late and made it work, and if they did go to a tournament early it was half ice as only their inter league games were full approved for full.
