Why are OHL teams drafting so many US born kids now?
Is it because development leagues in the good ole USA actually do suck and the hockey world is finally taking notice?
Or is the OHL run by Trudeau now and EVERYONE is welcome to push Canadian born atheletes aside?

Gotta love stupid hockey parents . More money than brains . It’s because of the new rule change . You’re allowed to play NCAA and CHL now. Players coming to develop before going to play against men in NCAA. Stay in school kids. Don’t be like your parents .

Why are you so mean? This reply didnt exactly answer why the USA kids are coming here if the USA program and leagues there are so good all these years.

1. How old is your kid? If hes over 14 - all the kids are really good so it will be tough

2. Be willing to play anywhere - look 1-3 hours from where your live. Find the dead last AAA team that also costs more. Once next season comes around - he'll be a kid with AAA experience and coaches will look at him.

Thanks for the input. My son is 15 and while we know the level is competitive, we’re not looking to join the bottom AAA team just for the experience. We’ve put a lot into his development, he trains consistently and brings a lot to the table…strong shot, great size, hockey IQ and overall skill. We do have standards for where he plays and we feel he’s earned the opportunity to aim a bit higher. We're open to reasonable travel, but with only one vehicle, it has to be manageable for our family.

26 goalies drafted...
- 9 from the U.S., including a 2007, and the 5'6", 110 lb. son of Andrew Raycroft ???!
- 8 from the top 6 teams in the GTHL!...O.L. & HC got their arses kicked vs.the Russians...no other good tendies in the rest of the league?
- 3 from the HEO
- 3 from the top 3 teams in the OMHA West...again, if you're NOT on a top team, you're not considered.
- only 1 from the OMHA East
- Only 1 from the Alliance...

Really?...The last 12 rounds of this draft were an exercise in nepotism and the awarding of favours...

My son is a 5'11 115lb tendy and just turned 13... will be playing U14 AAA on a mid pack Ontario team this year, decent #'s from previous years, I have always heard when your a goalie you don't always want to be on the best team because lack of action... but you don't want to be on a low end team for obvious reasons... any truth to this.
