My son is a 5'11 115lb tendy and just turned 13... will be playing U14 AAA on a mid pack Ontario team this year, decent #'s from previous years, I have always heard when your a goalie you don't always want to be on the best team because lack of action... but you don't want to be on a low end team for obvious reasons... any truth to this.

Yes.

the ideal team to be on is upper pack, but not the best team. The reason for this is simply people will question your sons ability based on the perceived assumption that they are not seeing the quality of shots to really believe the great numbers they might have.

However, you don't want to be on a bottom end team either because although you are getting a CRAP load of shots and arguably getting more "development" you are going to have the cons of: Less visibility from scouts, probably lower stats, potential mental health issues with high losses and potential of a toxic environment. less access to higher end tournaments.

1. BAD

7. FINE
8. BAD
9. REALLY BAD
10. REALLY BAD

This is pretty accurate. My oldest was on a bottom three team. He got 30+ shots a game, but no eyes on him. He didn't get drafted. Played junior for a bit and is now in university, which is fine. Based on what I've seen over the years, the sweet spot seems to be 3-6/7.

So true...
Best goalie in U16 AAA OMHA west was the last place Gryphons goalie.
Upset us (Niagara) twice in the season & I see he beat 1st place Oakville in the playoffs.
Didn't get a sniff in the draft.
Doesn't make sense except that he was on a last place team.

Was he tall? no one cares about goalies 6'0 and under, sorry. Size > results

This is true my son was drafted to the O last year and they told his friend at camp who was drafted to same team straight up we won’t be taking a goalie under 6 feet
My sons playing in O next season the goalie is not

My son isn’t a goalie, he’s a forward, over 6’1”, leading goal scorer in AA & no AAA team will take him. No sure why but I think our previous teams are spreading gossip about us.

Not sure about the size thing...
5'6'' son of Andrew Raycroft was drafted...
What a joke.
