Parents like you say things like “ meeting new people “ and “ different opportunities “ to mask the fact that you are making the choice and not your kid.

But when the coach asks “ hey we would love to have you back next year” you say “ haven’t talked to the kid yet “ or “ the choice is the kids and right now we are focusing on this year” meanwhile you have 5 open text conversations with other coaches on the go.

You are not fooling anyone. Just tell the coach thanks but we are moving on .
Its ignorant to think that at 12, these kids have time to screw around and "play with there friends" while trying to compete at the highest level. You make friends on every team. The kids that really want to pursue a future in the sport are the kids that will and they will say it too. You don't have to believe your kid is making the NHL, but let them try - who are you to stop them?

If you are a talented hockey player you will be noticed wherever you go.
It is a fact that 99.9% of players who jump from team to team either are a problem in the dressing room/ice or one or both parents are “crazy” and are chasing “The Dream” vicariously through that child.

The Kids on NSW are great kids who are team players and very well liked by their peers %100 BUT their parents on the other hand fit the description above.

They are far from Elite players in the OMHA and this is considered second fiddle to the GTHL so you do the math.

Keep pushing your kids to hate the game, you will regret it when it’s all over.

Kids and parents jump from team to team for a lot of other reasons - to escape a toxic environment, poor coaching, not enough ice time - or because there’s a better opportunity with bigger challenges. My older kid moved around until we found the right coach with the right value system and then stayed on with that team. Your description above is narrow minded. There’s nothing crazy about trying to find the right fit for your kid and your family.

I don't know why everything has to have a negative spin to it.

Most of these kids know each other in one form or another, school, spring hockey, baseball, lacrosse ect.
After most of the games they seek each other out in the lobby to talk or say nice game.
lets support the kids and if they want to try a new team that's great! if they want to stay on their team and welcome new teammates great!
Lets stop making it about us parents because as much as we like to go to work and have those conversations " My kid is AAA on the best team " Lets stay humble and enjoy our child's Minor hockey while we can.

Also think about those kids who have been working really hard at the AA,A levels and what it would mean to them to play on any AAA team. Sometimes we take these things for granted.

Have a great Friday ETA

💯💯💯. And with open borders you have more freedom to do so. Everyone just needs to stay in their own lane and worry about their own kid. The disgusting jealousy on here is palpable and why? Because your u12 kid is making it? Maybe they will. Most likely they won’t. Chill and enjoy the ride and let others worry about their own kids.

How would you handle a parent on your team spearing rumours about your playe?

And before you all go off it’s been confirmed from several sources.

A. Confront them
B. ignore it
C. Start spreading true ones about them
D. Open to suggestions
