U10 will show who the real coaches are for next year.

Of course you want to do the homework and pick a team that's going to win more than loose. But development is key or else you'll be looking at AA for U11

Who's top 3 coaches for next year? TRW, TM, NATS?

Why would TRW even be in the conversation? Dude couldn't even compete in KSL in U9 with a bunch of kids who are desperate to follow him to U10AAA?

DMF coach might be the strongest among all coaches. Has the experience and results to back it up. TM coach is a newbie and is half a sleep. Completely clueless he needs to go back to coaching house league. Nats coach is another guy with experience. But DmF will definitely improve and be a top team by u11. They have a solid plan with a trainer and a coach who has a ton of experience.

Guest wrote: Tue Feb 04, 2025 9:16 am Stars made a huge mistake they decided to get rid a coach that has developed this team for many years. Then also got rid of best player.
They both got into a f*cking fight with other parents you moron. One was kicked out of the game already and the other idiot left the bench. They were indefinitely suspended. This could lead to civil or criminal charges. They had no choice. Are you retarded?
Stars are a disaster. Kids are playing hockey and coach wrestling with other parents in the corner. Coaches running around like kids. New coach is a teenager who still plays AA or AAA. Can you imagine what his coaching staff probably looks like a bunch of high school teenagers. No wonder they are running around with backpacks. Probably came straight from school.
I understand the Stars have had issues with coaches and players getting kicked out and some other players going JRC and other teams but why are people basing their opinion of NYR on what’s going on with Stars? They are recruiting new players and a few tier 1 stars going NYR. Are the better players on Stars really going elsewhere ? It’s unfair to judge a coach who didn’t have the option to pick his team but was left with what the original coach had selected. The current Stars look like they have some pplayers who should not even be in tier 1. We are outsiders and with limited exposure to other skates for certain reasons but I can see the team being in the mid pack.

I wouldn't stop there. EC just might be the best coach in the world.

Look I’m gonna give some real advice and some will welcome it and other may not but be realistic. A lot of parents are so hung up on being on a top team based on reputation such as TM or JRC but the reality is these teams wanna win at all costs. Not all the kids will get equal playing time because these teams want to maintain a winning reputation. This means 5 kids will get the most play time and other parents will have to swallow their ego including existing Raiders parents. Find a coach who will develop your kid. Sure in tight games on the PP or PK certain players may get the ice time but what about when the team is up by 4 or 5 and there is a PP will the coach still go to the same kids or give others a chance. This might sound silly but it’s so crucial in how your kids develop, feel good to get opportunities and gain confidence. There are certain coaches who don’t give a sh*t and regardless of the score will put the same kids out. How will that help with development and confidence? These kids are 8-9 years old and coaches should focus on development and create opportunities when the team is up and give other kids a chance to feel good. Do your homework ask questions and find the right coaches. There are a few such coaches out there for next year. But you won’t find them on JRC or TM trust me on this and I’m not putting those teams down but it’s just reality. They want to maintain a culture of win at all costs.

💯 this is the realist advice someone has provided. I’ve been around the block and I’ll tell you that you won’t find such development opportunities on these teams either due to known coaches or the org itself

Ok this is the bad list. Which teams will provide the best development opportunities and why?

New to this whole AAA thing and I have a question for parents who have had older kids go through kids making AAA teams. Why are coaches in preference of bigger kids when the smaller kids are much quicker and can zip around the ice much faster? I feel that coaches are not even giving some of these smaller kids a chance at AAA unless it’s filling the end of rosters. There is no body checking at this age group so what’s the problem?
