The reason for this is the GTHL find high quality coaches where the OMHA didn't but things have changed within the last 5-8 years. Now there is better coaching in the OMHA.
the cost reasons are because ice is cheaper outside of the GTA the OMHA doesn't add entrance fees where the G adds it to the teams budget.
Plus the G coaches demand at U10 age 10K+ to coach and that defiantly adds to the cost.

Enjoy your 3 hr of traffic just for a practice thats an 1hr long hahaha
I heard 407 gives discounts to Omha teams. See you in Kingston
Buddy, if you live in OMHA territory and go to the GTHL, you are insane:

4 practices a week locally with one (potentially long drive every couple weeks, the rest likely being within an hour to an hour and a half)
vs
4-5 multi hour drives into the city through traffic

You tell me which one is better for quality of life? And if you genuinely think the competition is so much better in the GTHL I've got some swampland in Florida to sell to you. There will be 4 or 5 good teams in the GTHL, there will be 4 or 5 good teams in OMHA. The rest are AA teams. The BEST team, is likely in OMHA with WW.
the next couple teams probably the GTHL, and then the next couple are probably OMHA.

I rarely hear anything positive about coaching in the G, and all I hear is how cut-throat it is. How much parents hate each other. How kids jump teams every single year, etc.

If thats what you are looking for, for your child.... I don't know what to tell you. I hope you enjoy it :)

If you already LIVE in Toronto, I guess it is what it is.
I have 4 boys. 2 all the way through the G. This post is written by someone who has no clue and never done it. The G has been the single most positive and fulfilling part of our lives. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. I am sure the O has lots of great things about it too. Love hockey and hockey will ove you. Stop the hate and nonsense. Have fun. Make friends.

The biggest difference between OMHA vs GTHL will be OMHA will be very weak. AA hockey Va AAA hockey in the G except for WW.

Hockey at U10 means shit anyways its the U14 and up is where is means everything. Love how parents think because your at the AAA level at U10 your going to stay there until U16. Very very really does that happen and if it does good for you.
Let the kids enjoy the game. I dont think any kid would like to sit in the car for more than 1hr for a 50min practice.
But you do you

Actually. It was level-headed. Of course there's an advantage to being on a top AAA G team now. A bottom team? Not so sure. Is there a long-game here? Yes. There will be a lot of movement over the next 3 years as hard workers develop and puberty happens.

It's called perspective.

The first 2 kids Everest posted are the best two 17s and also posted a few raiders 17s committed to play. so far at least for 17 looks legit. 16 will see who commits.
Guys. OHP is not a development program or spring/winter hockey program. They run 3v3 and have never developed a hockey player in their life. It’s a lady who hounds people all day to get them to attend her events. Let’s stop talking about this lunatic and move on to real winter hockey talk.

So far looks legit but they are using JDM to grab the kids it’s not actually Everest. Let’s see how their 2016 pans out
What’s sad is OHP lady is communicating to herself on here Toronto Elite and Everest people are definitely not reading a 2016 chat forum
Everest is the most toxic by far. Miss piggy is the worst stain in hockey. Definitely a regular on here.
Get our popcorn and laugh at this. OHP lady seems much more into bashing Everest very personally. I smell a jealously and guaranteed there is a guy involved as well, bunch of “hoes”
Blows up my phone and I never met the lady... why does she post everyone else's tryouts like it's her business?

Most kids playing in OMHA struggle trying to make a jump o G later on except the few kids who played up in OMHA. History repeats itself
