OHL Draft
Re: OHL Draft
My son got drafted in the 4th round, we’re not from the GTHL region, but after chatting with our agent over the weekend and my son speaking to the GM of the team, we’re trying to decide where he should play next year.
The GM told him with all of the new rule changes, he probably won’t have a chance to make the lineup for another 2 years minimum. So it’s either Prep school or try and find a junior team somewhere since the league he played in doesn’t have major midget AAA. Here I thought once he got drafted all my work would be done since he’d go straight into the O.

Re: OHL Draft
There is no paying for players to be drafted, you’re spreading false information and it’s obvious you’ve never been through the CHL as a former player, or worked on the CHL in any type of position. Ask myself or anyone else who is associated with any CHL front office, that isn’t happening. Players will be bribed with money to play for a certain team, but that’s a totally different story. Absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing you’d even suggest money is exchanged for a player to be drafted. Get your facts straight before you post.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 11:41 amAfter chatting with a few scouts - It's been widely known that this year's draft was on the weaker side overall. Plenty of people ended up with a slice of the pie. Ton of $ exchanged for 10th Rd & below draft selection. All for bragging rights I guess. I would rather a nice trip for 7-15K
Re: OHL Draft
It's rare for 16 year olds to make and play regularly in the OHL, and on top of that with 15 rounds of the draft each year, that's a lot of players your son has to be better than to make the team. Each team maybe has 4 or 5 spots open each year.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 3:44 pm My son got drafted in the 4th round, we’re not from the GTHL region, but after chatting with our agent over the weekend and my son speaking to the GM of the team, we’re trying to decide where he should play next year.

The odds to make it are very long. You are better looking at Jr A/B/C clubs in your area or see what teams the OHL team is affiliated with.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
Re: OHL Draft
As a former CHL player and current coach, it unequivocally happens EVERY SINGLE DRAFT. Whether you are too blind to see it or are just doing damage control. The scummy agents take a “fee” and use their connections to curry favour with their high end prospects as leverage, get a throw away 11-15th round pick for a some affluent parent that has a kid who should not be drafted, let alone be in AAA. It happens on the same teams year after year.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 3:57 pmThere is no paying for players to be drafted, you’re spreading false information and it’s obvious you’ve never been through the CHL as a former player, or worked on the CHL in any type of position. It is obvious, it is common and it is a GODDAMN shame. The same shady characters and organizations do it year after year. Unless you want to talk about the potential of a 5”6” kid with 0 points vs a legitimate 50 point player in AAA.
It disgusts me that a kid who worked his ass off and had a great season, has to go through one of the hardest times in his life. Being undrafted and watching kids who do not deserve it, get the chance to be selected. They were cheated.
Re: OHL Draft
Then explain how players who struggle at the AAA level and have 1 or even no points get drafted.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 3:57 pmThere is no paying for players to be drafted, you’re spreading false information and it’s obvious you’ve never been through the CHL as a former player, or worked on the CHL in any type of position. It’s obvious you know nothing about the NYR coach/ scouting staff at Niagara

Re: OHL Draft
Okay so a team scout gets paid by parents and then has to go to said teams general manager and say “oh can you please draft this kid because his parents paid me $2000. Please pretty please draft him because I said you would?” Give your head a shake, a GM who doesn’t see any of that money isn’t going to pick a player that may risk them losing their job over a poor draft and poor season/attendance. This is a business, with owners who expect to make money from the team attracting fans and seeking merchandise. This isn’t minor hockey anymore. If any player is taken, it’s because they see some type of potential on that player or a need (size, physicality, someone who is willing to bring something the team lacks).Guest wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 4:27 pmThen explain how players who struggle at the AAA level and have 1 or even no points get drafted.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 3:57 pmThere is no paying for players to be drafted, you’re spreading false information and it’s obvious you’ve never been through the CHL as a former player, or worked on the CHL in any type of position. Re: OHL Draft
Our team already has 12 American free agent invites coming to main camp in September. All 12 are NCAA committed and range from ages 18-20. So the U18 draft will likely be more of the same, except all will be 17 yrs old. You won’t see many if any kids being drafted from Ontario, these will be all US kids.
Re: OHL Draft
GM has final say and is clearly on the take and every team isn't doing it. Just shut up idiot, no one sees shite in your kid, he's a tiny puke 10th forward. You're an embarrassment and so is the team ffs.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 6:24 pmOkay so a team scout gets paid by parents and then has to go to said teams general manager and say “oh can you please draft this kid because his parents paid me $2000. Re: OHL Draft
North Bay good to round 5 - complete trash after that.
Losers are Oshawa and Saginaw.
