Look I’m gonna give some real advice and some will welcome it and other may not but be realistic. A lot of parents are so hung up on being on a top team based on reputation such as TM or JRC but the reality is these teams wanna win at all costs. Not all the kids will get equal playing time because these teams want to maintain a winning reputation. This means 5 kids will get the most play time and other parents will have to swallow their ego including existing Raiders parents. Find a coach who will develop your kid. Sure in tight games on the PP or PK certain players may get the ice time but what about when the team is up by 4 or 5 and there is a PP will the coach still go to the same kids or give others a chance. This might sound silly but it’s so crucial in how your kids develop, feel good to get opportunities and gain confidence. There are certain coaches who don’t give a sh*t and regardless of the score will put the same kids out. How will that help with development and confidence? These kids are 8-9 years old and coaches should focus on development and create opportunities when the team is up and give other kids a chance to feel good. Do your homework ask questions and find the right coaches. There are a few such coaches out there for next year. But you won’t find them on JRC or TM trust me on this and I’m not putting those teams down but it’s just reality. They want to maintain a culture of win at all costs.
Give examples please?
You sound like a wounded parent whose present coach doesn't trust your kid enough to put them out in certain situations.
Unfortunately every coach in the AAA loop needs to develop players and win. If they don't they're out and the team blows up.
The advantage TM, JrC, VK have is they hire top coaches and generally have a couple of solid lines of players where other teams may only have one line. Therefore they win alot more.
Stop being a hater and being jealous of another associations successes.

Wayne Gretzky as a coach or don cherry…
Gretzky had a losing record as a coach. Now how about Scotty B.
We are talking about U10 development not NHL you moron. He coaches MEN that are already skilled. He is not teaching them how to shoot the puck or pass, we are talking about SKILL DEVELOPMENT of young kids. They need to see it, not hear it. Different ages require different strengths of coaches. Having a coach that can skate at an impressive level, IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT. If any of these old boy coaches were any good they would have moved up the higher levels by now, instead they are back trying to convince you they deserve 40 k, because they won a u18 championship in 2004
You can draw all the plays in the world, but most kids will be looking at the ceiling after 5 seconds. You need an energetic coach that can play the game, not some fat Scott Bowman wannabe that yells instructions but is not capable of showing the skills. When they get to u15-NHL range, its about who is a good tactician.
I gotta say this guy is completely out to lunch. Since when did u15 become NHL range? And I don’t agree with the other guy about Bowman but I think he was being sarcastic. I’m curious why are you paying 40k a year to a coach to teach an 8 year old??? And your earlier post said you search Hockey DB stats for the best coaches???? I’m pretty convinced you have never played hockey nor know a think about development . Are you one of those parents forcing 8 year olds to be on the ice 15 hours a week so that they are in NHL range at u15

Agree with the original poster. The guy was talking about not rolling lines when up by 4-5 goals and rotating on PP when up by a large margin. I’ve seen this many times with JRC and TM.

Anyone who thinks VK is good just go look at U10 now , they are a dying organization of money stealing side jobs and it's getting worse and worse.
Watching my kid play in ksl. I have been comparing him with other tier1 kids he can keep up with and I thought he might have a chance at AAA. Took him out to some skates and got to see some really good non ksl kids. There was this one kid U10aa DD who I thought might of been a 2015 was by far the best kid on the ice. The kid executed every drill correctly without making a single mistake the whole practice there is no chance my kid would get more ice time over a kid like this in AAA. After watching this kid was clear choice as a parent to go AA. I heard alot of 2016s playing a yr up AA and AAA i am positive these kids have spots over ksl kids.

Kids playing up a year AAA coming down would make AAA over other kids majority of the times. AA a year up maybe not. You make it sound like playing KSL was a free ride to AAA but it isn’t. Also depends on whether the kid played tier 1 or tier 2. There are some good kids in tier 2 but not as many as tier 1. Plus the competition level at tier 2 is also not strong. Coaching also matters. There are so many kids that can do drills to perfection but once a real game is played look lost. There is more to developing than just playing full ice.

Which team did you attend the skate for? Was it in GThL or OMHA?
